That time of month has rolled around quickly… Not only is it Christmas Eve but it’s time for another issue of Get The Look For Less! So far we’ve covered bedrooms, dining rooms, and living rooms; now it’s time for us to show you how to achieve a rustic, European-style dressing room for less.
To start the design of your dressing room, the best first step is to think about the colour scheme of your walls and carpet.
Lighter and brighter dressing rooms always feel more airy and spacious and stand a better chance of naturally taking in more light, which can be handy if you need to do your makeup in the mirror.
When it comes to choosing flooring, we recommend either a light-coloured comfy carpet, or alternatively durable laminate flooring if you’re more prone to accidents. Both types of flooring will work, with other components, to achieve a European-style vibe.
For the walls, try something different by creating a split-pattern with two contrasting yet still neutral colours. White is always a good foundation colour, followed by a pale green, muted yellow, or faint orange to give the room some warmth.
Once the foundations of your dressing room are covered, it’s time to think about furniture and eclectic pieces. Instead of buying a standard dressing table, choose a dark wood wall shelf and install it between the nooks of the walls to perform like a dressing table would.
Decorate it with just a few home decor pieces, like a rich-coloured planter or a couple of shabby-looking books. To keep with the rustic feel you’re creating, finish the area off with a rattan chair and a circular wooden mirror.
To draw the look together, finish off with wooden-style accents, such as a rattan standing lamp, some more planters, and maybe even a roughed-up rug.
