Comfy Carpet

Nothing compares to the soft, luxurious feeling of new carpet under your feet. Carpeting provides a safe, comfortable spot for kids to play and while it may require a bit of extra maintenance compared to hard flooring, there’s no substitute in terms of sound absorption, warmth and overall comfort.

A new carpet is something that is likely to be with you for years so you need to give some thought to the kind of carpet that will best match your life style, from the colour, style and texture most suited to your tastes, to the type of fibre and the quality of the carpet needed for the room.

Some carpets may require frequent cleaning, or you may need a pet friendly carpet. The wrong carpet in a certain area of your home may wear out quickly. You may want to change your furnishings frequently, or you may want a carpet to last 20 years. There is a lot to think about but our staff will be on hand with specialist advice to help you to choose.

We are constantly bringing the latest looks and trends in to our stores and we have over 20,000 rolls of carpet in stock every single day. Not only that, we have a 5 metre aisle for those awkward sized rooms and over 10,000 room size remnants available for immediate delivery!

Frank’s The Flooring Store buy 3 million square metres of carpet every year so it is safe to say that we know a fair bit about new carpet! If you don’t know your loop piles from your plush, or your velvets from your Saxony, don’t worry because our team can help you to choose the perfect type to suit your room and your lifestyle.

There are two main types of carpet, defined by the way the carpet fibers are attached to their backing: loop pile and cut pile.

Loop Pile

Here the carpet fibers are bent into small loops. This is a durable and stain-resistant type of carpeting, but it has limited cushioning. Level loop – also known as ‘berber’ – has short loops that stand up well in high traffic areas. Multi-level loop has varying loop heights, which give the carpet a patterned texture.

Cut Pile

Here the yarn tips are cut to remove any loops. Cut pile carpets tend to be softer and fuller than loop pile carpets. There are several types of cut pile carpet.

Plush has an even, smooth texture with a formal appearance.

Saxony has a smooth finish, with longer fibers which are twisted to give each fiber more body. This is a popular type of carpet but the longer fibers mean that dents can be created in the carpet by heavy furniture.

Cut Pile

Textured cut pile has fibers of uneven lengths to create a rougher surface texture.

Frieze carpet has long fibers and isn’t recommended for high traffic areas. Shag pile is a type of frieze carpet and is most suited to rugs.

Cable has long, thick fibres which is very comfortable underfoot.

Cut And Loop

Cut and loop is another type of carpet, which has – you guessed it! – cut pile and loop pile fibers, combining the best qualities of both. Cut and loop is great for hiding dirt and stains.

Frank’s has an extensive range of carpet that is unbeatable both on quality and price. No matter your taste or requirements, the Franks team can recommend, design and install the perfect carpet for your home.
