Flooring that can last a lifetime

Wood Flooring is not just a stylish choice for your home; it is flooring that really can last a lifetime, making it a worthwhile investment. It is also relatively easy to keep clean and tidy, with a little effort going a long way – perfect for those of you with busy lifestyles.

Tips to keep your flooring looking chic

To keep your flooring looking good, we recommend a quick sweep with a soft brush or dust mop every other day and a weekly vacuum using a bare or hard floor setting to keep on top of any dirt or debris.

Once a month it is a good idea to clean your flooring with a flooring cleaner. Never use vinyl or tile cleaning products on wood as acrylic waxes can cause it to become slippery and appear dull rather than polished. Keep wet mops and steam mops away from your wood floor too, as these can dull the finish and even damage the wood.

Every 5 years, it is a good idea to apply a maintenance coat to your flooring, and every few decades your wood flooring should be sanded and refinished.

Throw rugs at doorways can help prevent debris from being walked into your home and scratching your floor, while an area rug at the kitchen sink can protect your flooring from splashes of soapy water.

When moving heavy furniture, avoid sliding it on wood flooring. It is best to pick it up and move it to avoid scratching and scuffing. If this is not possible, stick-on felt protectors under the legs of furniture could help though these should be replaced regularly as dirt can become embedded on the pads which in itself can cause scuffing.
