For many of us, our bedrooms is our sanctuary. After a long day at work, there’s no better feeling than crawling into bed and relaxing. If your space is feeling lack-lustre and not serving its purpose anymore, it’s time to give it a redesign!

If you’re looking to save some pennies, there are still definitely plenty of ways you can spruce up your bedroom without spending lots of cash unnecessarily.

Bedrooms are easy to update because simple changes like switching out a cushion or throw, or styling your bedside table differently can give the room a whole new vibe.

Give bedrooms a new lick of paint

Paint is one of the cheapest ways to give your bedroom an entirely new look. Even a fresh coat of white or off-white paint works hard to make your space feel bigger and brighter.

If you’re not sure where to start, get plenty of testers and swatch as many as you need to on your wall to get a feel for what will suit your space.

Change your bedding

When you start to lack inspiration for your bedroom, it’s time to change the sheets. An easy fix with a lot of impact, pick some new colours and patterns and buy some new bedding, cushions and throws to revive your space.

Play with a range of textures to achieve a luxury feel or if you’re looking for that high-end hotel vibe, overstuff the cushions on your bed.

Upcycle old furniture for bedrooms

Furniture is expensive, so if you are on a budget then you’ll want to avoid buying lots of new stuff. A super easy way to save money when updating rooms in the home is to upcycle furniture that you already own.

There are so many ways you can customise and modernise old furniture, or give new items a more traditional, rustic look. Discover plenty of video tutorials online or search for inspiration on Instagram or Pinterest.

If you’re a complete newbie to DIY, you could just try grabbing a paintbrush and freshening a piece of furniture up with a new colour.

Give your bedside tables a focus

It’s time to clear off those dirty mugs and scrap pieces of paper you don’t need and make your bedside tables a focal point of your bedroom.

Instead, style it with a pretty lamp or a small pile of your favourite books. Add a trinket dish, candles, or a vase to give more of a luxury look if that’s the style you like.

Add budget-friendly artwork

Art can be expensive, so as an alternative, prints are the perfect way to decorate a bedroom and turn a sad-looking wall into a creative and stylish space.

Affordable artwork and prints can be found on Etsy but you could also consider framing things you already have like postcards, DIY collages and concert tickets for more of an eclectic feel.
