What does LVT stand for?

LVT stands for Luxury Vinyl Tile. Sounds fancy, but really it just means stylish, hard-wearing flooring that looks like wood or stone, without the huge price tag.

What is the lifespan of LVT flooring?

Look after it right, and LVT can last 15 to 25 years but sometimes even longer. It’s built to take on everyday life without breaking a sweat.

Does LVT need to be glued down?

Some types do, some don’t. You can get glue-down LVT or click-fit versions that lock together without any adhesive. We’ll help you choose what’s best for your space.

Do you need underlay on LVT?

It depends on the type. Click LVT usually works best with underlay for extra comfort and soundproofing, while glue-down LVT goes straight onto the subfloor.

Can I mop LVT flooring?

Absolutely! LVT loves to be mopped. Just use a damp (not soaking) mop and avoid anything too harsh, so no need to go wild with chemicals.

Is LVT better than wood flooring?

It depends on what you need. LVT is more affordable, water-resistant, and easier to maintain. Real wood looks the part, but it needs more TLC. For busy homes, LVT’s a great choice.

Is LVT worth the money?

It certainly is. You get the look of wood or stone, without the big price tag or maintenance of the real stuff. It’s tough, stylish, and great value – what’s not to love?

Does LVT scratch more than laminate?

Both are pretty tough, but laminate might edge it slightly on scratch resistance. That said, LVT bounces back better with water and is quieter underfoot, so it really depends what you’re after.

Does furniture leave dents in LVT?

Heavy furniture can leave marks if it’s sat in one spot for ages. Stick some felt pads on the bottom and this will help.

What is warmer, LVT or laminate?

LVT tends to feel a bit warmer and softer underfoot, especially with the right underlay. It also plays nice with underfloor heating if that’s something you’re looking to invest in.

Is LVT flooring truly waterproof?

Yes, it’s properly waterproof, not just splash-resistant. That’s why it’s excellent for kitchens, bathrooms, and busy family homes.

Is LVT used in high-end homes?

Absolutely. These days, LVT comes in all sorts of premium styles and finishes, so you’d struggle to tell it apart from the real deal. Smart, stylish, and practical!

What is the downside of LVT flooring?

On some occasions, it can dent under really heavy furniture, and if you go for the cheap stuff, it might not last. But pick a quality LVT (like the ones we stock) and you’re good to go.

Should LVT go under skirting?

Ideally, yes, because it gives a neater finish. But if your skirting boards are already in place, we can fit LVT up to it and use scotia beading to tidy up the edges.

Is LVT cold in winter?

Not really. LVT holds its warmth better than you might think. It’s softer and warmer underfoot than tiles, and if you put it down with the right underlay, it’s very cosy in winter.
